5 x GCSEs at grade 4 or better to include maths or English at grade 4
What's it all about?:
This qualification is designed to give learners the skills to work in the travel and tourism sector. They will gain an in-depth understanding of the principles of the travel and tourism industry and allow them to explore the various avenues of work within the industry. This can then be taken to prospective employers or can contribute to wards further progression into HE
How long is the course?:
2 years – 2.5 days a week
What will I do?:
Core Modules
- The UK Travel and Tourism Industry
- Customer Service in T&T
- Preparing for a career in T&T
Optional Modules
9 additional modules over 2 years which can change each year. Examples are:
- Work experience in T&T
- UK airports
- Aviation communications
- Health Safety and Security
- Worldwide passenger airlines
How will I be assessed?:
Continuous assessment via written assignments each week, plus practical assessments via role plays, interviews, professional discussions and group/pairs presentations
What to Expect?:
- Role plays to strength communication and team work skills.
- Written work to improve factual, comparison and justification skills on various topics
- An appreciation of appropriate behaviour, time management and dress code within the industry Interpersonal skills when working in groups on projects and presentations
- Working in an environment that promotes understanding of working practices in the industry and how different roles and departments function via guest talks and visits
