If the airport isn’t operating fully, will I get a job when I finish my course?

The situation we are in now is short term. The challenges the sector is currently facing will ease in time, and by the time you have completed your training with us the sector will have recovered and the issues relating to shortages of trained individuals that were prevalent pre-covid will continue to exist. You will have plenty of time to seek employment and enable the sector to recover.

The knowledge and skills you learn on your course with us are broad and easily transferable to lots of different sectors. You will leave us highly employable and with work ready skills that will be valuable to any employer – for example, you will learn topics that include Health & Safety, Security, Conflict Management, customer service, supervisory and team leading skills, business and commercial sector related units, and some will gain practical hand skills that can be transferred across a range of engineering and construction trades, not just within the Aviation sector. Your prospects are still very exciting despite the temporary challenges the industry is facing.

What safety measures are in place to protect me against Covid?

We are abiding by the government guidelines and updating our working processes as the guidelines are re-issued. We have sanitising stations throughout the campus, signs to keep within the social distancing rules, and a one way system to maintain a flow of traffic safely. We have created zones for engineering, aviation operations and hospitality, the signage when you enter the building will make that become clearer. You will be directed to use the anti-bac sanitisers as you enter the college, and when you leave. Classes will be running on reduced numbers, with learning online to complement the time you are not spending in the classrooms. We have closed our catering facilities until the restrictions ease, so you will need to provide your own packed lunch, snacks and drinks whilst you are with us. If you are travelling on public transport to college, you will need to wear a face mask.
